When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached,
don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.

It is precisely this thought of Confucius that has been the leitmotif guiding me through life for many years. It contains pretty much everything necessary for professional and personal development – setting goals, embracing change and achieving success. When we move, even when we make mistakes, we move forward.

AMM CONSULTING

Although sometimes it seems that some things come late to us, they actually come at the right time. Occasionally we knock on doors that are not for us because they seem right at those particular times. We’re often programmed to think something has to be because that’s the way it’s always been. But then comes a moment when we realise that the right thing is the opposite of what we’ve been chasing. So we start to feel it is time to change and find a new direction – a path that has not been paved yet.

I recently had such a moment myself – a decision has matured, and circumstances have arisen to embark on the unknown. For me, that was entering the entrepreneurial waters at the beginning of my 40s. It is an opportunity to share all I have done, learned and gotten to know and experience over the past twenty years. I hope to support individuals and organisations who are, just like me, ready to walk the path of a business-professional change.

Cooperation to mutual satisfaction

Regardless of the business area where you need my expert support (learn more in sections Expertise and Services), I am sure we can cooperate to our mutual satisfaction. It may sound like a cliche, but mutual satisfaction has always been my priority. Over the years, I have worked in different industries and with various kinds of people. Thus, I have indeed experienced all sorts of collaborations. And while it was always important to me that these collaborations are a win-win for everyone, it wasn’t always like that. My professional path and development were marked by projects and relationships that were often more of a win for the other side than for me, looking from the present perspective. But it is precisely that what shaped, empowered and encouraged me to grow stronger and better. It continues motivating me to keep learning, improving and developing further every step of the way. But the feeling, desire, and ultimately the need for business relationships to build and manifest to mutual satisfaction have never left me. That is why I am pointing this out now – it is on this value, among others, that I want to build my entrepreneurial story.

Values

But, cooperation to mutual satisfaction isn’t the only value on which the strength of AMM CONSULTING rests. Equally important are my word and integrity. Back in 2001, at my first job, while working as a secretary and translator for a world-class manager, I learned in practice what I had only felt until then – that a handshake is more valuable than signing a contract (Don Alfredo, thank you for the wonderful years, and many things you taught me back then!). And for me, that really is the case — when I give my word to someone, I will do my best to keep it.

In this, I am driven by an exceptional passion for results and excellence, not only for myself but especially for others. To paraphrase the famous Peter Drucker: I manage for results. I like to push the boundaries – of what can be conceived and what can be achieved. I look at problems as to facts and solutions as to goals.

Continuous development

I am a big supporter of investing in development on all levels – personal, professional and organisational. But, on the other hand, I don’t support stagnation, and the backsliding grieves me. While still a student, I understood the importance of learning. Back then, I spent a large portion of my earned money on professional literature, primarily on marketing and management topics. Although each book often costed between 50 and 100 euros, which was really a lot for my student budget, it didn’t stop me from buying more than one book on occasion. I also allocated money for various seminars, absorbed everything I could, and continued to do the same in years to come.

In 2017 an unplanned leadership education happened to me. It strengthened me professionally but also significantly changed me personally. It was unplanned in a sense that I came to this Academy to acquire additional knowledge related to working with and managing people, and after two years of intensive learning, in addition to enriching my life with some truly wonderful acquaintances that are developing further, it most of all taught me to manage myself. And not only that, it taught me the true meaning of the word understanding – understanding the causes of events, specific behaviour patterns, human (re)actions in particular situations and the like. From this time forward, a slightly different communication began with co-workers and, in general, with people in my life. And so the word management, which had been my primary business focus in previous years, somehow spontaneously and unobtrusively, almost completely got replaced with the word cooperation. And this cooperation has become – you guessed correctly – to mutual satisfaction!

Although cooperation is something I have always believed in, it was only because of this transforming education that I truly realised how to deal properly with a situation in which two people see different things even though they are watching or talking about the same. And in doing so, to not hurt the mutual relationship and cooperation. (Ramiro, thank you for everything I learned with you!)

Knowledge and experience as one entirety

Through the same education, I also became an NLP Coach. With my knowledge of project and business management and organisational changes and transformations, this now constitutes well-rounded expertise. As a result, I have decided to enter the entrepreneurial waters. I shall take both organisations and individuals on the journey of professional change and success; only now I will do it a bit differently than before.

But, my professional development didn’t end there. By learning directly from a world-renowned expert, I have extended my previous knowledge to the field of organisational culture. More precisely, I studied in more detail the topics of organisational culture diagnostic according to the OCAI method, the culture change process and how to consciously create a positive organisational culture. Namely, for years I believed (and learned!) that strategy and management are the keys to the success of any organisation. However, after choosing precisely organisational culture for the topic of my postgraduate specialist thesis (which was also a “trigger” for my professional development in this direction), I learned both in theory and in practice that actually leadership, people and organisational culture together form the crucial piece of any business puzzle. Therefore, organisational culture has become an area that interests, fascinates and delights me for a few years now. It also gives an additional dimension to everything I know and offer through my services. I’ll share more thoughts on this topic in one of the following texts.
